My name is Vaki Karampourniotis, and I used to have a waist line larger than my last name. In March of 2018 I was tipping the scales at 393lbs. My 48 waist pants were too tight, but I refused to buy size 50…because in my mind that would just be awful.
I knew I needed to make some changes as I was very obese with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and fatty liver disease. Not to mention that I was always tired.
I had attempted weight loss in the past on my own and was able to lose a hundred pounds several times; however I literally killed myself to do it and was unable to maintain the weight loss.
I was referred to The Metabolism Clinic by a friend. I never knew I had a problem with my metabolism however on my first visit I was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome.
Since being treated at the clinic I lost weight on a record pace at just under a pound a day; losing 180 lbs in 8 months.
I weighed 198lbs. My size 50 waist line is now 33/34. I am no longer tired as my energy level is at an all time high. I am 42 years old and this the first time since I was in high school that I have seen the scale under 200.
My initial goal was to get healthy. Now I am taking my new found energy and health on an adventure. I plan on hiking Mt. Whitney this summer and I will be running the NYC Marathon in November. I am excited to be running as part of the Breathe Team to raise money and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My future goal is to run the Athens Marathon since my family is from Greece and that is where the marathon originated.
For anyone who struggles with weight, you are not alone.
